Project Title:  „Mindfulness Training for Autistic Children“
Implementation Period: April 2023 – November 2023 (8 months)
Project Funding: Funded by the State Public Health Strengthening Fund, with partial voluntary contributions.
Project Goal:

To strengthen the mental health of autistic children by providing them with the opportunity to better understand and regulate their emotions, reduce stress and anxiety, and develop mindfulness skills through structured Mindfulness-based training.

Problem Statement:

Autistic children often experience heightened anxiety, stress, and difficulties with self-regulation and communication, which complicates their social integration. In Lithuania, the inclusion of these children in schools and broader society presents challenges for both families and educational institutions. The project’s activities aim to provide practical emotional regulation tools, reduce anxiety, and support the development of social skills, contributing to overall well-being.

Implemented Activities:
  • Mindfulness Training Sessions:
    100 children participated in 10 group sessions held in four cities: Panevėžys, Vilnius, Mažeikiai, and Šiauliai.

  • Summer Camp by the Sea:
    49 children participated in 11 days of intensive mindfulness-based practices.

Project Achievements:

Quantitative Results:

  • 180 hours of group sessions conducted by 3 certified mindfulness specialists

  • 100 children participated in the program

Qualitative Results:

  • Improved emotional well-being, attention, and communication skills among participants

  • Participants gained practical tools for managing stress and anxiety

  • Parents received Mindfulness Game Kits for Children to encourage continued practice at home

Project Implementation and Indicators:

The project was fully implemented, meeting all set targets.

Key Achievements:

  • 100 autistic children participated in sessions across 4 cities

  • 49 children took part in intensive mindfulness activities during the summer camp

  • A well-being self-assessment was conducted using an adapted questionnaire

Budget:
  • Funds allocated: € 30,450

  • Funds used: € 29,987.30

  • Applicant and partner contribution: € 1,530
